RE: 50 HP. RENAULT CAR. X1013

When we called at Paris on our way back from Le Canade?, I had an opportunity of trying a new 50 h.p. Renault car. It had only been delivered from the makers two days.

The engine was noisy both running light and under power. The acceleration appeared very good, also the power. We could not take any measurements, but it did not give the impression of being any better than the EAC.

The brakes required more pressure than the Hispano. They were very poor indeed backwards. There was a peculiar lag in operating the brakes when going forward. If the brake pedal was pressed very quickly, the servo did not appear to operate until a short period of time. If one was following a line of traffic, it would be a definite disadvantage. Generally, the brakes on the Renault were not very good.

The steering is low-geared similar to the Hispano. During the short time I drove the car, it appeared to be very nice, free from shocks and easy to operate.
