BENTLEY V.{VIENNA} RE: SHACKLE PINS. As the result of the seizing up of the screwed shackle pins in France I held up this particular feature until further information was available. I have now with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} had an opportunity of looking at Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}'s car, which LA.{L. A. Archer} had taken down. The shackle pins are in good condition; there is, however, one pin which indicates it has been short of lubrication, and there was a slight tendency shown of seizure. However, with lubrication to each pin I am satisfied that the screwed shackle should go on. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} is arranging for a design to be produced for the tension shackle to take a Bijur point to each pin. With this modification the screwed shackle should go into production. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
