SILENT TREAD TYRES.

With reference to PN.{Mr Northey}3/WT23.4.31. will you please
say if Sales Dept like the appearance of these tyres.
As we have previously pointed out, the history of this tyre
problem is that we have standardised an improved silent tread
tyre which has a resistance to skidding within about 4% of
the triple stud pattern. We think that you will agree
that this difference is about as small as we expect to get
in view of the degree of silence obtained. Therefore we
take it that the only objection to these tyres is their
appearance. This being so, before we start tests on any other
tyres, we should like to know if London agrees that they look
allright. Should you approve of the tread pattern, we recommend
that you should order a set of tyres for one of your trials
cars so that you will be able to keep them under observation,
at the same time as we are making any tests. We have already
satisfied ourselves that they are relatively silent.
