DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS: "DUNLOPS, PHONE, BIRMINGHAM" TELEPHONE: ERDINGTON 2121 (P.B.X) EXTENSION No. 395. YOUR REF: OUR REF: HEP/HM.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}1320. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM 24 Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. For the attention of S.H. Grylls, Esq. 2nd November, 1938. Dear Sirs, In acknowledging your wire as follows :- "PLEASE SEND DRAWING 4 x 16 LIGHTWEIGHT RIM", we are sending you from Coventry a drawing of the 4.00x16 tubular bead light section rim. We would explain that these rims are not yet in production but it is hoped that they may be available towards the middle of the month, At the same time we would further explain that this section has not been tested out, and we feel that before any decision is made regarding its use very searching tests would be necessary, especially if used with tyres of normal section and load carrying capacity, as the introduction of these rims was intended to provide a wide section rim for the Stabilia type of tyre which would not, section for section, carry the same load as the normal range. Yours faithfully, For DUNLOP RUBBER CO., LTD. Dictated but not signed by ...... HEPrice Manager - Car Manfrs. Divn. [LOGO: 1938 DUNLOP 50 YEARS OF GROWTH] | ||
