When the question of standardisation of the clutch on large bore cars arose 3 months ago, Borg & Beck strongly recommended that we should increase the spring poundage, because they had no experience of this size of clutch transmitting 206 lbs.ft. torque. In view of this recommendation and the fact that our own opinion had not been completely confirmed at that date, we agreed to specifying the heavier springs. Since we have had the confirmation they agree with us that we should adopt the weaker springs. With these weak springs the theoretical clutch pedal load is 33 lbs. with the new clutch engaged, which is the same as on the present Bentley clutch.

The springs we require are of 147-155 lbs. loading, and are painted brown for purposes of identification.
