BROOKLANDS TESTS.

3.Per.II. & 4.Per.II.

Tests of relative merits of J.3. carb. against 2 S.U. carburetters and also of water oil cooler against air oil cooler.

Tests.

Air temp. 24°C; wind down railway straight; morning.

4.Per.II.
J.3. carb. weak needle, lap speed 2' 18" = 72.18 mph
half mile = 74.38 mph
strong needle lap speed 2'16.4" = 73.02 mph
half mile = 75.00 mph

Acceleration 10-30 mph in 10.5 secs
10-60 mph in 34 secs

Petrol cons. to Brooklands 15.3 mpg.

3.Per.II.
2 SU. carbs. no air silencer lap speed
2'17.2" = 72.39 mph
half mile = 75.00 mph
- with air silencer-lap speed
2' 16" = 73.24 mph
half mile = 75.00 mph

Acceleration 10-30 in 9.5 secs
10-60 in 28.8 secs.

Petrol cons. to Brooklands 15.6 mpg.
