[strikethrough]X4256[/strikethrough] GOSHAWK-11 REAR AXLE BREAKAGE. X4086 The rear axle on 1-Goshawk-11 has failed and we are now dismantling the axle for investigation and will report later. The driving shaft has broken where the serrations (driving dogs) blend into the shaft. The shaft appears to have twisted round a considerable amount before breaking and has the appearance of being made of soft material. We propose having this analysed before officially reporting on this breakage, but I thought it would be as well for you to know this trouble so that you might suspect same on 5/6-Goshawk-11 and have the end of the shaft examined by taking off the hubs. The remaining shaft has also twisted locally at the same place i.e., between the inside end of the hub and the driving dog and the end of the serrations where it blends into the driving shaft. EP.{G.
