For the attention of Mr.R.L.Neil.

Dear Sirs,

Referring to our recent discussion together, regarding the best compromise on the new head lamps for Continental driving conditions, we have now received word from our Paris Depot that the lamps should be -

(a) Not of the dipping or pivoted type.

(b) They should be permanently fixed and fitted with a double filament bulb of not more than 100 candle power.

It would appear, therefore, that your scheme of making the lamp adaptor suitable for both double contact cap and single contact cap bulbs would be the best, and we should be glad to know if you have evolved a satisfactory design for doing this.

The alternative idea is that suggested by Mr.Elliott, whereby the lamp reflector is provided with two pivot slots, and all the customer has to do is to lift the reflector from one pair of slots to the other. Mr. Thacker, who was with us the other day, has full details of our ideas regarding this scheme.

We should like to know at the earliest possible moment, therefore, what you propose to do on the lamps, and we think it would be a good idea if you could come up to Derby next week and discuss these later ideas in order to get a decision on the matter. Wednesday or Thursday, the 9th or 10th instant would be the most suitable dates for us.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
