WRAITH II BUMP CHASSIS.

Front Suspension.

The front suspension of the above chassis has been dismantled and inspected after 50 hours bump test.

The general condition was good and lubrication was adequate, there being little or no evidence of wear except in the main-spring actuating levers GW.737. Grooves had been worn in the forks of these by the needle rollers. No appreciable wear had been caused, however, by the main rollers, as the end play of these was unaltered.

All the main parts were crack-tested and two of the top triangle levers, GW.795, (the O.S. rear and N.S. front) were found to have small cracks on the inside radii adjacent to the buffer-brackets. A full investigation of these cracks is being conducted in the laboratory, and the matter is to be taken up with the makers.

All other parts, including the alum. spring housings, were in good condition.

Herewith a photograph of the cracked levers GW.795.
