To Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} (N.) from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Copy to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 1041 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/AT.16.12.40. Dear Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager}, Jack Barclay called in here last week and complained about the noise made by his second speed gear. As you know, this trouble has occurred on most of the B.V boxes and we have a bearing with a greater life which can be fitted. We have, however, no spare gearboxes and therefore should not have been able to do anything to Barclay's car without holding it up for a number of days. If you have a spare box in London I recommend that you fit it to Barclay's car and let us have his box in Derby to rectify. I gave Barclay some packing pieces for his front springs, but there did not seem to be any tendency for the car to hit the buffers on the front. He complained about hitting the buffers on the rear, but as his gearbox has been empty of oil, I concluded that this was due to the governor control having gone out of action. Yours sincerely, | ||
