I wrote the Lucas Electrical Co.Ltd. (on 16th ult) as follows:- "Our Test Dept. report that the car to which this "dynamo was fitted has completed approximately 10,000 "miles and suggest that the dynamo be returned to you "for examination and overhaul. "With this object, we are returning the dynamo to "you and we shall be glad if you will make a careful "examination of same and send us a full report as to "its condition before you proceed to do any work on it, "as we may wish to discuss some points with you and, in "such event, it would be convenient to examine parts in "the condition you receive them." We are now in receipt of a letter from the Lucas Electrical Co.Ltd. dated 11th inst. as follows:- "Referring to your letter of the 16th ult. regarding "the above Dynamo which has completed approximately 10,000 "miles on one of your cars. We beg to advise you that we "have now examined same and offer the following report:- Commutator worn. Leads from the brushes worn and require replenishing. Brushes worn. [Stamp: RECEIVED 12 MAY 1921 1261 81] Comments. We have been experimenting for some time with a new type of brush which we are satisfied will last considerably longer than the presentone and also cause less wear on the Commutator. "Unfortunately, however, there is some noise "associated with this brush and we are afraid the Machines "would not pass your test if they were fitted. We should "like to have your views on the subject, however, and shall "be pleased to send a Machine fitted with these brushes for "test if you think it advisable. We enclose:- No.1 Sample of latest brush flexible covering, which we think you will agree is a great advance on the stockinet. (contd) | ||
