| To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/A.F.F. R A.F.M x206 HL3/AG.13.1.36. Laboratory. Re: Brake Drums. We are casting some special test bars (1¼" dia.) in the following composition :- Manganese 0.50% Chromium 0.30% Phosphorus Maxm. 0.10 Sulphur " 0.10 Silicon 1.3% One half the bars will be semi-chilled and the remainder cast in green sand. By suitable heat-treatment we hope to convert the graphite from the big flakes to the rosette type, and at the same time to raise the tensile strength to a minimum of 16 tons per square inch. The iron recommended by Ferrodo Ltd. could not be cast in our cupola. H1. He. | ||
