Apparently a certain amount of moisture is absorbed by the paper during manufacture and then trapped by the wax impregnation, being released again when the paper is thoroughly baked. It will be seen from these results that the Symons waxed paper is still dielectrically the best of the British papers, the plain paper seems to absorb moisture before impregnation as the leakage conductance figure at 100°C. is much worse. The Delco-Remy paper is the best as regards leakage conductance. If it is decided to use the plain paper and then impregnate the coil, we strongly advise that the paper should be baked first, and also the coil before impregnation." EFC. | ||
