Your Ref. ______________ 21st June, 1938. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Attention Mr. S. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Grylls. Dear Sirs, We have to thank you for your letter of 14th June. We regret we are not yet in a position to submit experimental tyres for you to test. On the 7th April, we ordered in the United States, two moulds in the 6.50/16 size, one with the tread pattern shown to you when you visited Melksham, the other with a pattern similar in general character but differing in certain features. Despatch of these moulds was promised for May 17th. On May 19th, however, we were advised by cable that the mould makers had made a major error in cutting the masters for the tread patterns and that this error was discovered too late to salvage any portion of either mould. Work was started on two new forgings and despatch promised for the week of June 13th. We have heard nothing further but we will keep you posted regarding developments. Yours faithfully, THE AVON INDIA RUBBER CO. LTD. [Signature] J G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Mackay CHIEF CHEMIST. Handwritten initials: FJH{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} | ||
