SALES DIRECTOR'S OFFICE. 20th March, 1939. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., Rolls-Royce, Limited, DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, PETROL GAUGE TANK ATTACHMENTS As promised when I last had the pleasure of visiting you I arranged with our Engineers for an investigation of the design, especially in relation to the graphite carbon bush in the attachment, because of recent complaints of failures on the "Wraith" chassis. Doubtless you have heard that our Electrical Engineer, Mr. Russell, also Mr. Manwaring, together with Messrs. Sparkes and Wyburn of the Morgan Crucible Company visited Mr. Harvey-Bailey and Mr. R.E. Davies at your Works last week, when the former very kindly approved the tank unit as being a satisfactory and well made design and expressed the opinion that the trouble which had arisen could not have been anticipated. In view of our experience, it was decided that fifty percent of the tank attachments should be made with brass bearings and fifty percent with graphite. The necessary instructions have Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
