To Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gy. X1583 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gy1/LG1.5.29. CHOICE OF OIL ON BIJUR SYSTEM. X3806 We anticipate being able to recommend two oils for us on the central lubrication, one for summer and one for winter. For summer use our gearbox oil Amber A.{Mr Adams} should be used, and for winter our engine oils Motorine C. and Wakefields 'XL'. This oil should be used both in the Bijur pump and the oil gun. With regard to the latter, it is most necessary that the intensifier should not be used as damage is likely to occur to the drip plugs in the axles. We are instructing the use of [struck through text] oil guns of a maximum pressure of 150 lbs/sq.in. We understand that these have not yet arrived on production and until they do, great care must be used in lubricating the axles. Correct lubrication on the car is obtained when the pedal of the Bijur pump is depressed once before starting out in the morning i.e., with the chassis at even temperature, and subsequently every 100 miles. The front axle is designed for lubrication every 500 miles and the rear axle every 1000 miles. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.Gaye. | ||
