P. 2. PETROL TANK AND EXHAUST FISHTAIL.
X.7460.
X.7230.

We send herewith N. schs. 3143/4. shewing the above.

SINGLE LINE GAUGE FITTING. This is shewn on N. sch. 3143. We have lowered slightly the height of the fresh air pipes and fitted a new cowl, also modifying the outlet union.

TANK. We have simplified the tank construction by carrying the tube right through. The procedure of erection is as follows:-

(a) Fit all outer fittings.
(b) Rivet and sweat baffles.
(c) Attach tube to one end plate and insert in tank.
(d) Push right through tank as far as possible, and rivet and sweat other end.
(e) Roll rivet and sweat in ends.

FILLER. The height of the filler has been lowered so that its spilling level lies intermediate between that of the vent and the maximum level in the tank with the car on the level.

WHEEL CARRIER. The wheel carrier tube has been set so that the bottom cross rail of the body can be further back, so preventing the present ugly and excessive turnunder of the maximum bodies.

EXHAUST FISHTAIL. This has been carried back to the rear cross member to avoid fumes being trapped by a rear apron, and to avoid blacking the luggage carrier.

A special tail lamp fitting is needed for cars when going on the continent in some cases.

_____________________

From the coachbuilder's point of view the central vent is not a blessing in the case of cars with trunks at the rear, as it stands up high.

All other features on this drawing are equally applicable to the standard tank, and the central vent scheme should not be allowed to hold them up.
