With reference to your letter of the 26th Inst., we regret that our remarks were not clear. We certainly appreciated the point in your letter of the 20th Inst., viz. the fact that when both voltage and frequency vary in direct proportion to each other the range over which the instrument can be relied upon to run synchronously is limited to between 50% and 120% of normal, both as regards frequency and voltage and furthermore the motor cannot be relied upon to start if the voltage and frequency are less than 80% of the normal. On the other hand the motors will run synchronously at any speed up to 120% of normal, providing the voltage is maintained at the normal value. The above figures were obtained from actual tests. Individual motors might however show a slight improvement on this range. Yours faithfully, for EVERETT, EDGCUMBE & CO., LTD., [Signature] Director.
