mileage before failure of the plug under test being compared with the average mileage of the Lodge standard plug tested against it.

The following values were obtained for various makes of plug :-

Lodge standard 'C' type - non-detachable 100%
Lodge C.200 type - detachable 105%
A.C. B.11, 3-point. - detachable 94%
Champion single-point - detachable. 88.5%
K.L.G. Type K.1. - detachable. 55%

The Lodge C.200 detachable plug is the type which it is contemplated to supply with New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I engines. From the above tests these can be recommended to replace the non-detachable Lodge plug at present standardised, as being equally as proficient as regards withstanding oil and yet having a second life inasmuch as they can be dismantled and cleaned.

Our experience at present of these plugs does not indicate that they are any worse as regards pre-ignition than the present non-detachable plug. We should therefore recommend that they be used to replace the non-detachable plug on New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I cars.
