Please receive herewith the following scheme F.CD.545 Mounting of Wraith lll steering box on Ph.lll. The above scheme shews the Wraith lll type of steering box fitted in a Phantom lll chassis. The universal adjustment fitment in the frame side channels, is replaced by a simple die cast distance piece in the frame, and a S/M forged bracket to which the steering box is attached. Adjustment for the various types of steering is obtained by having clearance holes in the bracket and distance piece. It is intended to use this steering box on B.3, B.50 and Wraith lll eventually. This scheme is required for 39-EX. which we believe is to be ready for test by April 21st. BY/Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design} is designing the cross and side steering lever details required, for use with this scheme. We are sending a scheme shewing the engine modifications necessary to fit this type of steering very shortly, in order that Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Mc.S. can bring the engine in line.
