To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. Wcr. c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PN.{Mr Northey} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Sp.{Mr Spinney} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} X4240 R4/M2.6.22. GOSHAWK X.4241 X.4240. It has been agreed that we delay the production of parts that will be affected by the following modifications:- 1. The Bonnet is to be raised 1" at the front end, giving a more level side elevation. The radiator will therefore be an 1" higher and an 1" narrower, the chief object being to make it look a different car, of different proportion to the 40/50. 2. The radius of the tank at the top of the radiator will be increased as much as is possible without making the junction between it and the bonnet ugly. The limit seems to be about ¼". The tank is to be deepened so as to carry more water and the fan is to be made approximately 18" and driven at a slower speed with a 5" pulley. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
