CAP. } From EFC. RJA. } EFC2/AD26.1.31. X.6065/6. DYNAMO BRUSHES. I would like to have a report from you concerning the general position of brushes, more particularly control brushes, on the question of noisiness, sticking and variation of output either as temporarily affected by backward running or secularly affected by continued forward running. It has been put to me that we are over-stressing the necessity of the small clearance between the bottom of the brush holders and the commutator. I do not think we are, but I should like you to include in your report what you consider to be the reasons for the necessity of maintaining this small clearance. It has also been put to me that there is too much variation of dynamo output arising (independently) both from running the machine backwards and as represented by a fall in output after the machine has once satisfied the production test. Therefore I would like your views and convictions also on these points. EFC. | ||
