COPY Geoffrey Smith, Iliffe & Sons, Ltd., Dorset House, Stamford St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, S.E.1. 19th March 1937 W. Cowen, Esq., Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd., 16, Conduit Street, W.1. Dear Mr. Cowen, After 9,000-odd miles on my 4 1/4-litre Bentley I am very anxious to try a bigger sectioned tyre. I mentioned this to you in conversation a fortnight ago, and I wonder if your technical department now approves the fitting of bigger tyres. I recall that you told me that Derby were experimenting, and it may appeal to you and to them to have independent views such as I could provide if you could fit up my car (with which I have now had a fairly lonh acquaintanceship) with wheels and tyres of a bigger section. To me the car is tending to look rather out--f-date with the smaller tyres fitted, and of course there are other advantages from big tyres if they will stand the speed of the modern Bentley. Would you kindly let me know what you feel about the matter and if the change could be effected for experimental purposes. Yours sincerely, (Sd) Geoffrey Smith. Director. | ||
