C.W. Nichols, Esq.,
Messrs. S. Smith & Sons (Motor Accessories) Ltd.,
Cricklewood Works,
LONDON. N.W.2.

Dear Mr. Nichols,

I regret to say that your people have caused us a great deal of trouble and inconvenience by changing over the filling of the Calorstats to Hexane without our agreement.

We had samples of Hexane-filled Calorstats submitted to us, and these operated at a temperature of 10° lower than we found to be necessary for satisfactory engine performance. Your people were notified of this result, but, for some unknown reason, and without any authority, they have changed over to Hexane.

We believe there are about 50 cars affected, and, very fortunately, this trouble was discovered on test.

We are proposing to return the Calorstats to your Works to have the filling rectified, but you will appreciate that the error has caused us a considerable amount of inconvenience, and we shall be glad to have your assurance that it will not happen again.

Yours sincerely,
