TO [Struck through] FROM EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} COPY TO HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} RE BATTERY. 25 HP. X 5535. We thank you for your BYIO/G.21.11.30. and the print of Scheme No.I405. We fixed our heelboard with reference to the crossmember at the back of the battery by observations on 18.G.4. when it was at W.W. It would appear that on 18.G.4. this cross-member is not the 9.500ins. in front of the rear axle as on the standard cars, and that it has been moved back. We suggest that the cantilever bracket be moved back and upwards as indicated on the blueprint returned herewith. In this way it will be possible to make it almost clear the brake ropes The battery box will be lengthened. A similar treatment should be applied to a crossmember if that has eventually to be used. We are depending on your making any changes to the design of the subframe heelboard at the centre to make it suit the hypoid axle with centralised chassis lubrication.
