BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 47060 E2/M23.3.28. PHANTOM ALUMINIUM HEAD. X. 7060 Lec. 2464. X. 8050 X. 8060 X. 7050 X. 289 In reply to your BY8/G20.3.28., our requisition is founded on the EAC.14 and RR.F. practice of making the exhaust valve guide stouter, and we shew both a larger dia, at the top, and a slower taper. There is however much more projection of the exhaust guide on RR.F. than on EAC.10 or 14. from the pro- tective aluminium boss, and hence there is reason for the EAC.10 valve guide to be of less heavy section, but I still feel it should not be as light as the inlet guide is shewn. Perhaps you could get HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}' opinion on this. It seems to me the best idea would be to make the exhaust and inlet valve guides interchangeable at .750 dia. at top, and 1 in 20 taper. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
