the same with any 12 volt system on any car. It is always advantageous from the point of view of the life of the lamps to supply lamps of higher than the rated voltage. In that case the side lamp driving light would not be so good, and if lamps of higher c.p. were put in to make up for this, the current taken on standing would be undesirably increased. Therefore it is doubtful if there would be much gained by increasing the actual voltage of the filament materially, such lamps not being nowadays so very expensive to replace.
