Re: Accessories.
"Perfection" Heaters.

Dear Sir:-

In reply to my report on "Perfection" Heaters dated July 27th. I have received a note from Mr. Tonge with copy of a report from Mr. Hives of which a copy had already been sent last February.

In my report I wrongly stated that we had received no reports on the matter as far as I could ascertain. Mr. Tonge draws reference to the fact that copies of Mr. Hives' report were sent to myself and Mr. Nadin last February, and Mr. Nadin has already recalled this matter to my attention.

While I agree that I should have looked up this report and mentioned it in my request for further information, I wish to point out that Mr. Hives' report of February 12th. does not give us the full details which we are asking for; namely, in what way it is considered that we should modify the heater in order to make it suitable for a Rolls-Royce car.

In my letter of Sept. 19th. last year to Mr. Barrington on this subject I mentioned that we should undoubtedly have to modify the details of the "Perfection" heater which are exceedingly crude and liable to give considerable trouble in service.

Furthermore I had not understood that Mr. Hives' report on the subject giving his opinion that the "Perfection" Heater was satisfactory, was sufficient permission for us to use them. I should therefore like:-

(a) Assurance that the "Perfection" heater is considered satisfactory by Rolls-Royce Limited.

(b) Suggestions for improvement in design.

Very truly yours,

ROLLS-ROYCE OF AMERICA Inc. (Sgd) M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Olley.

MO/G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp}

Mr. Nadin.
Mr. Keim.
Mr. Burton.
Mr. Manning.
