Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} We give you below copy of letter received from Messrs. Tangyes regarding the Wheel Jack for 20-HP Chassis, and shall be glad to have your comments thereon as soon as possible. Will you also kindly arrange to have Standard-isation Sheet issued to enable this Jack to be brought in without delay. Will you also at the same time confirm that the Jack will be suitable in its present form when 19" Rims are introduced. "We are duly in receipt of your ROY {Sir Henry Royce} /GEA2/EB14229, of "yesterday, re the Screw Jack for your 20-HP Chassis, "and regret very much that we were unable to conclude "our investigations in time to wire you to-day, but "we now quote you for the 100 Jacks you specify, as "follows:- "TANGYE 1-TON DOUBLE LIFT SCREW MOTOR JACK, having "aluminium body, and generally as per the sample "submitted, complete with a handle having a joint "of the knuckle type, which is made secure by a "sliding sleeve. "We would like to draw your attention to one little "departure we propose to make from the sample submitted, "and that is we shall make the guide of round section "held by two keys instead of hexagonal section used in "the sample. "We are sorry we are unable to give you time of delivery "to-day, but we will endeavour to wire you this "information tomorrow. "In regard to the angle of inclination on the sample, we "would like to point out that this angle is exactly the "same on the Michelin "Forrest" and Dunlop "Super D.L." "Jacks, the figure being 20 degs. We would like to "press upon you that this angle is perfectly satisfactory, "and we do not want if we can help, to make any drastic "alteration to this particular item. "The handle we should supply would be 3'-6" long, weighing "about 2 lbs.13 oz. and the Michelin "Forrest" handle is (continued) | ||
