Sadler 6142 WSC{W. S. Cassel} from HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}7/VS.{J. Vickers}3.5.37. DYNAMO DRIVE - PHANTOM III. To make use of existing lockplates E.87050, as suggested in RHO/HN.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}1/1B.27.4.37, would mean the fitters filing approximately .100 off each leg, and rather than make a regular practice of this it would no doubt be cheaper to make a new double lockplate as previously recommended in HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/RH.{R. Hollingworth}1/VS.{J. Vickers}21.4.37. Furthermore, to provide an effective lock without drilling the crankcase, the shortened legs of the lockplate must be of exactly the right length, and on this account the double lockplate is considered to be a more foolproof locking device. We would therefore recommend the scheme shown on Ex.I.145 being introduced as it stands, but standard lockplates could be shortened if desired in order to avoid drilling the crankcase until such time as a modified lockplate can be introduced.
