Cast Iron Brake Drums From Lake & Elliott.
-----------------------------------------

The Works have reported that the Brake Drums supplied for production purposes by the above firm are in some cases as low as 20/. brinell.

We have taken this matter up with the suppliers and they inform us that they deliberately modified the composition as they find that by so doing they obtain greater freedom from cracking whilst not appreciably affecting the wear.

We have told then that they must not, under any circumstances, make any alterations to our products without first acquainting us of their intention to do so in future.

We have asked the Works to hand over to the Experimental Dept. one pair of drums with a brinell of 201 and we shall be gland if you can arrange to have these tried out and let us know if they are satisfactory.
