X.2515 EFC4/T, 25th August, 1920. Messrs. S. Smith & Sons Ltd., 179-185 Great Portland St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, London, W.1. Dear Sirs, X.4164 Re Switchbox. X 2515 With regard to the main fuse in the sample switchboxes which you are making up for us, as Mr. Royce does not favour the use of tin-lead fuse wire, we wish to use copper wire for this fuse. Would you, therefore, kindly arrange for the ends of this fuse to be fixed with screws in the fuse holder. The size of copper wire used will be arranged so that the fuse is just capable of going with the dynamo in the hotest condition, should the cut-out stick on. It will then be very safe for ordinary purposes. We want the design of the fuse to be such that the connection effected by it is absolutely reliable until the abnormal condition of the sticking cut-out arises. We would like, in the first instance, to try the fuse in theposition electrically as shown by our diagram. If this position proves to be disadvantageous the connections of the box will readily be altered so as to put the fuse in the dynamo negative lead. Contd. | ||
