1138 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.24/JH. 15th December, 1937. Messrs. Clayton Dewandre Ltd., Titanic Works, Lincoln. For the attention of Mr.A.E.Willett. Dear Sirs, Referring to our letter of Nov. 29th. we have not yet received the correct switch for the C.C. type heater mentioned therein. We would be glad if you could arrange to let us have this as soon as possible as the present faulty one is causing serious inconvenience. Will you also please let us know the range of speed control which this small rheostat switch gives, and if possible who the makers are. We would also like you to let us have as soon as possible a drawing of this switch and of the switch which you normally supply with heaters for Rolls Royce cars (the type which you have previously sent us). With regard to the C.C. heater which we have, we have this one on test and have one serious criticism. The air flow from the fan, instead of all passing through the heating core, passes partly through the core and partly backwards from the core at the periphery of the fan blade tip path, giving a strong back draft of unheated air onto the passangers feet. The result is that the nett heating of the air seems to be very little more than in the case of the S.2.C.A. type while owing to the cold draft onto ones feet the impression left is that of a refrigerator rather than a cooler. We would like to know whether you have experienced similar effect and whether you can alter this heater to get over this defect. We were particularly interested in this heater as | ||
