To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. BJ. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EY/RD. 7650 EFC6/T6.9.27. NO.2A SCHEME SEQUENCE STARTER. X.7625A X.7650 No.2A scheme of sequence starter which you have recently seen on chassis 14-EX is the No.2A scheme insofar as the motor with inward sliding armature and armature operated switch is concerned. In the absence of the very latest design of duplex switch, it was arranged with combined main and relay switch unit and three-point push button switch, which was utilised with the motor and solenoid actuator on the No.1 scheme. This switching apparatus has so far proved to be satisfactory, but, as previously pointed out, this portion of the apparatus of the No.1 scheme can be used with the starter motor of No.2, or vice versa (if necessary, i.e. when we have completed the duplex switch unit with the mechanical interlock between the armatures). The motor (inward sliding armature) has of course the modifications referred to in our recent report EFC1/T24.8.27. The position is now that we have developed or in course of development :- (1) First type of switching apparatus comprising three-point push button switch, with main and relay switch duplex unit. (2) No.1 type motor with sliding pinion. (3) No.2A motor with inward sliding armature. | ||
