EAC. 7. HYDRAULIC SHOCK DAMPERS ON REAR.
X7520
X235

Herewith we send N. scheme 2231. shewing the hydraulic dampers fitted to the rear of the EAC. 7. chassis.

It will be seen that the body of the shock damper has been modified, and we have also had to make some alterations to the run of the brake ropes and the fitting on the axle.

The damper shewn is that on N. scheme 2209. giving a gradual application of the load, and this is the one it is intended to use on EAC. 7. Its use is dependent to some extent on the success of the design shewn on N. sch. 2209., and if for any reason it should not be found satisfactory, it will be necessary to use the old design of shock damper. We believe that this can be done by a slight adaptation of the arrangement outlined for EAC. 1.

The modifications to the brake gear are indicated on N. scheme 2232.

We have found it necessary to move the rear tiebar bracket forward, including the rear queen post. The amount is such as to utilise as many of the existing holes as possible in case the side member should be drilled.
