ALUMINIUM PISTONS FOR PRODUCTION CHASSIS.

With reference to your EH3/LG18.8.19, we conclude from this that it is definitely agreed that production chassis may be delivered with piston knocks, providing these piston knocks are not manifest when the temperature of the water at the top of the radiator is 50°C.
We understand that you have now settled upon a standard piston clearance, and should be glad if you will let the works have these details as soon as possible.
We shall be glad if Mr.Wormald will arrange, as soon as you have issued these clearances to the works, that pistons are ground to these clearances before being erected into chassis, and thus avoid our having to dismantle engines practically as soon as they are received on test, for the pistons to be given the necessary clearance.
Will Mr.Hives please let us have a copy of his instructions to the works regarding these clearances.
