R.R. 109 (250T) (SD676 19-7-17) M {Mr Moon / Mr Moore} /180805 X4187 EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T. 24th November, 1922. Messrs. Scintilla Ltd., Trafalgar House, Waterloo Place, London, S.W.1. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter S/97/BU in answer to our EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T of the 22nd. inst with reference to small 6-cylinder magneto with automatic advance. We should now be interested to know if you can adapt your small AP6 magneto to automatic advance of 30° on the engine, i.e. 45° on the magneto armature, together with a hand advance also of 30° on the engine. We should require this automatic advance to commence at an engine speed of 500 r.p.m. and finish at 3000 r.p.m., two-thirds of the amount having taken place if possible up to 1500 r.p.m., though we realise this is difficult with centrifugally operated devices. We note you say that you can supply automatic advance without increasing the overall dimensions of the normal type magneto. From this it appears that your automatic advance may apply to the contact breaker only, in which case there would probably be difficulty in giving the combined automatic and hand advance required. You will no doubt inform us if your automatic advance applies to the whole armature. Contd. | ||
