-2- 3) Very liable to low speed wobbles. 4) Heavier. 5) Undoubtedly more costly. 6) May have a rolling point below the ground, though this can be corrected by inclining the main lever bearing. (The lowering of the rolling point is connected with 2) ). Olley is not able to give us any definite information as regards steering, but will put us in touch with the steering manufacturers. Neither could he tell us himself anything about tyre noise, though he suggests that rubber between the springs and the frame may be the explanation. I understand that hitherto we have been unable to use this rubber because it affected the steering. Olley will put us in touch with people who have been doing tyre noise and we hope to have some-thing useful in a few days. He seemed fairly sure that the tyres themselves were the real explanation. We had a very good voyage though the sea was rough the first few days. Hope to get the Majestic back on Dec.7th. though there is some doubt if we can do it. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
