To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to CJ. WIRE WHEELS & SS{S. Smith} TYRES. on 1 EX ORIGINAL R2/G14/6/20. HOPEFULL FOR STD/N FIT to 6 EX X.392-3 RE CHASSIS 6 EX. L.3482 L.4050 I certainly think that the wire wheels having the straight sided tyres as at present fitted to 1 EX. is the most desirable thing we can fit to 6 EX as being the most hopeful combination to become and remain our standard. I am very disappointed in the limitations of the disc wheel that they cannot use the straight sided tyres or security bolts, and I certainly also feel disappointed with their heavy appearance on our cars. Regarding the paint, I cannot see how you can very well paint the frame black, and think if you intend to do so, it would be better to try this on some old car, the paint of which is of no moment. I think it would be quite all right if you use the black and white grey suggested lately. I am not particularly charmed with the buff greys that I suggested earlier, I am afraid they look either too conspicuous or dingy. R.{Sir Henry Royce} [Signature] RECEIVED 14 JUN 1920 | ||
