Huckerby}5.1.34 re P.II SERIES ---------- Have just tested for acceptance chassis No. 23-RY, fitted with the automatic charging and self-contained switch for ignition, also instrument board red light which comes into operation when the engine is running and "no charge". When running on battery ignition the above is quite satisfactory, but when running on magneto ignition only the red light works in the reverse order, i.e. alright when charging and off when not charging. This means when running on magneto ignition only the red light will always be on when driving. We are informed this is in order per instructions and is part of the scheme, which we can appreciate. To run on magneto ignition only must be looked upon as a "test" that this ignition is working satisfactorily. Normally both ignitions should be in use. The scheme is a necessary improvement. The above point, however, was not made clear when standardising and should be made clear to Sales and in the instruction book, as it is sure to call for comment. EP{G.
