High-speed steering wobble and tests on side steering tube components.

They attained a small amplitude which could be maintained at a fixed speed, but died out as soon as the speed was altered. The attached illustrations show the relative amplitude of the wobble with and without the side steering tube. We are carrying out tests with all the available varieties of side steering tube springs that we have, and in addition larger balls with set up springs in the side steering tube to promote friction, as on the Hispano. We find that stiffening up the engine support by means of plates as suggested by W.W., does not have an appreciable affect on high speed steering wobbles.
