Experimental Test Report.
No test has actually been made with solid pole pieces on the 20 HP. starter motor, but comparative tests on the 6" 40/50 motor with laminated and solid poles shew there to be no material difference in the brake efficiency of the motor, as compared with a std. motor. It is considered that the question of standardisation of a -

similar item on the 20 HP. motor is merely one of manufacturing costs. We have the detailed results of the tests referred to although no report or curves were issued. New starter motors being prepared for Phantom have solid pole pieces. This is standard practice on outside makers motors.
A Scrap and replace at all costs, including Chassis already delivered to Customers.
B Scrap and replace on Chassis in Works.
C Scrap present stock and replace on all Chassis not yet handed to test.
D Use existing stock Alteration effective on future Chassis.
