Dear Sirs,

SMITH OIL FILTER.

You will no doubt remember we have been carrying out experiments with the above-mentioned filter, and we think the attached bore wear figures from one of our M.H.3. engines, which was recently dismantled and measured up, may be of interest to you, since they are the best we have so far encountered in an engine fitted with a Smith Oil Filter. We think no further proof of the efficiency of this filter is required than the data given in the attached sheet.

The engine in question is of about 1 litre capacity, the vehicle weighing 5 tons and operating on both long and short distance work. The amount of sludge normally accumulated in the crankcase is very heavy.

We are of the opinion that if filters are changed when the oil starts to discolour, the conditions of operation, as mentioned in the report can be maintained.

Yours truly,
SCAMMELL LORRIES LIMITED.

TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT.
