X.5781m. WATFORD TYPE R.O.1. MAGNETO. X.5790. (LONG CAM TYPE) SPECIFICATION OF PRODUCTION INSPECTION & TEST. (1) The contact breaker cover shall be removed and the following details inspected :- (a) The contact breaker lever for absence of frictional effect and suitable spring tension. (b) Satisfactory sliding fit of the movable cam ring. It should be noted that the ring is not slack laterally. (c) The brush on the contact breaker cover for suitable pressure on the head of the contact breaker bolt. (d) The maximum primary gaps, which should be .012"+.002. These should not differ on the two sides more than .002". (e) The H.T. brush and the two side earthing brushes for suitable spring pressure, and the H.T. brush holder for any signs of having fouled the revolving insulating flanges. It should also be ascertained that there is no tendency for the carbon brushes to stick when pushed right home in their holders. (f) The armature spindle for any end play in the bearings. (1)a.{Mr Adams} The available range of the advance lever should be ascertained and should not be less than 58°. (2) Continuity of primary and secondary circuits shall be tested by applying an A.C. voltage of 205 between the high tension terminal and the frame, with the contact breaker points held apart, when a small 4 volt lamp connected between the low tension terminal and the frame should be lighted. contd. | ||
