W/P. To Sr. from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Many thanks for your Sr.1/Crn.8.12.37. This is the first case we have had of Borg & Beck clutches fitted with Thermoid material giving trouble. In view of your remarks we will at once go into the question of obtaining a Long type plate with Thermoid material for experimental work. We should, however, like you to continue observing the two clutches which have been giving you trouble. Your remarks about the engine oscillation when accelerating away from low speeds seems to suggest that your power unit is starting to run unfavourably which will of course tend to cause clutch jaggers, which can hardly be attributed to the Thermoid lining. We have actually standardised Thermoid on Bentley clutches, so that we wish to get some confirmatory information or otherwise. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
