Development and procurement of a body strap for a Type B.D. Gun with supplier Hampton & Sons Ltd.

Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}8/JH.2.9.40. re Body Strap - Type B.D. Gun. We have made contact with Messrs. Hampton & Sons Ltd. of Pall Mall, London.S.W.1. (Tel. Whitehall 1020) who are making all the webbing equipment for the R.A.F. They have made us a rough sample of a body sling for the type B.D. Gun which you have seen, and which was brought here by their representative. We have now produced QPL.132 a final scheme for this body strap based on their proposals (original attached to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH's. copy of this memo.). We understand that they are prepared to make all the parts of the sling shewn on the scheme, and we suggest also that they make the bent wire fixing to the aiming handle shewn on QPL.126. We suggest that we should send to them QPL.132 and QPL.128, indicating the parts which we wish them to make, and an order for two sets for the service trial guns. No doubt Blk. will wish to do this.
