Dept. August 8th 1935 W.A. Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, Many thanks for your letter of the 6th instant regarding your tests with the Stromberg carburetter. With regard to the popping in the silencer upon which we had such a long discussion, I have since ascertained some interesting data in connection with this phenomenon which I will let you know at a later date. It is of course quite possible that in the particular instance with which we were concerned an air leak might have been the chief source of the trouble. I am passing your order for two further DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} carburetters on to Zenith, London, and I will ask them to quote you and give you date of delivery. I note that you wish these carburetters to bear the specification of - Venturi 1.5/16", and Main Jet .066, and with hand operated strangler control instead of the automatic choke control. I presume you require the remainder of the specification as left by myself in the carburetter you are now running. I have had the proposed revision of the DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} roughly laid out on the drawing board, i.e. the standard DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} main body assembly together with the latest type of built in automatic choke device. Mr. Turner is away on holiday and I shall not be able to give you any definite information in regard to this matter until he returns. With regard to the dual carburetter layout which continued | ||
