Bonnet paintwork discolouration, weighing the drawbacks of fitting a contact disc versus not fitting one.

No contact buttons have ever been fitted to this bonnet and the paintwork shows only slight discolouration along the line of contact which appears to be due to it having been opened when dirty, the dirt being trapped between the panels and embedded into the paint.

In either case there is a drawback and it is questionable which is the lesser evil, the recessing of the panel around the contact disc or the discolouration along the contact line when no disc is fitted.
