INSTRUCTIONS:- FIRST OBTAIN THE TOTAL WEIGHT OF THE COMPLETE CAR AS PER INSTRUCTIONS BELOW. THIS WEIGHT INCLUDES THE CHASSIS, BODY, SPARES, TOOLS, ACCESSORIES & THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PASSENGERS CARRIED. WHEN GIVEN THE WEIGHT OF THE BODY, ADD 4424 LBS WHICH IS THE WEIGHT OF THE CHASSIS & INCLUDES SPARES, TOOLS, ACCESSORIES, 2 SPARE WHEELS (ONE ON EACH SIDE) & 112 LBS OF LUGGAGE ON GRID. 154 LBS SHOULD THEN BE ADDED FOR EACH PASSENGER, ALSO ANY LUGGAGE IN EXCESS OF THE 112 LBS PREVIOUSLY INCLUDED. HAVING FOUND THE TOTAL WEIGHT, OBTAIN FROM THE GRAPH, THE POUNDAGE OF THE NEARSIDE FRONT & REAR SPRINGS; THE CORRESPONDING SPRINGS FOR THESE POUNDAGES ARE THEN OBTAINED FROM THE STANDARD ROAD SPRINGS CHARTS F.8047/8. THE OFFSIDE FRONT SPRING IS 50 LBS HEAVIER THAN THE NEARSIDE & THE OFFSIDE REAR SPRING 100 LBS HEAVIER THAN THE CORRESPONDING NEARSIDE SPRING. NOTE:- SPRINGS OBTAINED FROM THIS CHART ARE THE "20% STIFFER" TYPE.
