MINUTES OF CONFERENCE ON MARINE UNIT.

As a result of a Conference on the Marine Unit held at the Squash Court on Thursday, February 1st./40, AA.{D. Abbot-Anderson} was asked to produce the following parts or information.

(1) The oil cooler used on the Gray engine.

(2) A thermostat that can be used with salt water.

(3) Any heat transfer unit for use with an engine running on fresh water, together with the particulars of its capacity.

(4) Call on the Companies who are expert in corrosion, (AA{D. Abbot-Anderson} suggested R.K.Dundas) and bring back information regarding protecting aluminium alloys against sea water.

(5) To produce prints of a boat into which the 8-cylinder engine could be fitted for trial.

This is important because it is necessary to select a builder who will co-operate with us, and also a boat which sells.

(6) To produce a high quality ignition switch with key which it is alleged Messervy has fitted to his own boat.

It was agreed that Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} would get particulars of the following:-

(a) An up-draught Duplex carburetter suitable for a straight 8 engine.

(b) The effect of tin plating castings with regard to protection from corrosion.

(c) Find out whether Lucas' produce a double pole generator suitable for the engine.

(d) Find out whether Lucas' have a good ignition switch.

Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} took minutes of the technical decisions arrived at during the meeting and is requested to circulate them. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} will get the necessary typing done.
